Digital Security and You

E-commerce revenues have been experiencing double-digit growth for more than a decade, and will continue to do so for decades into the future.

Wise business owners are working hard to establish a strong Internet presence.  An unfortunate side effect of having websites online, however, is the fact that hackers and other dishonest fraudsters will do just about anything they can to steal account information from someone that is trying to make an honest transaction.  Some will even build websites that appear to be reputable but really are put in place simply to steal a trusting individual’s credit card information.

Since customers are becoming more aware of the potential security issue of making purchases online, they are increasingly looking for reassurances that making a purchase from the site is safe.  With IDWorldwide, you can demonstrate to your customers that your site is safe to use.

Identity Verification

In order to demonstrate to your customers that your site is safe to use, your site may receive one of our verified seals.  You will receive this seal once we have verified that your company information is accurate.  This will include your company name, the URL of your website, the address of your business, the business email address, and the business phone number.

To simply show that your site has been checked but isn’t necessarily certified, you will still need to provide us with your company name, you URL, your business address, your business email address, and your business phone number.  The main difference between being checked and getting a seal is that our verification process is much more extensive when it comes to earning a seal.

The Master Certified seal is the most thoroughly researched seal we provide.  In order to receive the Master Certified seal, you will need to provide us the same information as with the standard seal as well as some additional information.  This information includes having a online SSL certificate and providing us with the addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers of your managing members, which will not be made public.  You will also need to have a Privacy Policy that meets our standards in order to receive the seal.

You can also apply or privacy seal that verifies that you have taken the necessary steps to protect your customer’s privacy.  In order to receive this seal, you will need to have a solid privacy policy in place that guarantees the customer’s information will not be sold or given away, that customer information such as account numbers will not be kept on file for any longer than 60 days, and that the customer will not receive solicitations from your business.

Meeting PCI Standards

For added security, you will also want to make sure your site meets PCI regulations.  These regulations have been established by Visa and MasterCard and are adhered to by other major credit card companies as well.  The purpose of these compliance standards is to protect customers when using their credit cards.  Although your customers may not be aware of these standards and whether or not you have them put in place, the credit card companies will.  If you fail to have these safeguards in place as specified by PCI compliance standards, you run the risk of being fined and losing your privileges to accept the credit card.
